Research and Development
IFTS manages or participates in collaborative research programs in partnership with university laboratories, equipment manufacturers and Solid-Liquid Separation users within the scope of calls for projects (Ministries, Ademe, ANR, Oseo, competitivity poles…)
Some current researches running in IFTS:
- ANR-Cotedem: in the scope of PRECODD (Research Program of Ecotechnologies and Sustainable Growing) projects financed by the ANR (National Research Agency), IFTS takes part in the COTEDEM project (Innovative Combination of Electrical and physico chemical treatments aimed at improving mechanical dewatering of suspensions or sludges of industrial and urban origins). This project is lead by the UTC (
of Compiègne) and brings together 8 universities and industrial partners. IFTS designed innovating equipment called “boo-test” which is similar to the jar-test for water treatment and which allows to compare the sludge conditioning products in controled, quantified and repeatable conditions, in view of their dewatering. - SYRENA (Regulation system new structure): proposed in the scope of the world-wide competitivity pole
and managed by TURBOMECA. It deals with research and development of sensors, components, softwares and systems allowing the improvement of operation, maintenance and performances of helicopter turbines. IFTS, member of AEROSPACE VALLEY competitivity pole, is a partner of the unit “to ensure the maintenance” which develops and validates some new particulate contamination sensors of lubricating fluids and fuels used on the turbojet. - DATCEMO (thermal dewatering coupling centrifugal drainage and micro-waves): it is a project in the continuation of the research made on centrifugal drainage (Bérangère LEGER’s thesis in 2008). IFTS will manage this project in the scope of an interest call launched by ADEME and TOTAL in 2009 about the energy efficiency during industrial operations of dewatering and drying. This project begins in 2011 and lasts for 3 years. It aims to assess technical and energy characteristics of micro-wave drying of some synthetic industrial product and in a pilot centriguge.
PRIF: in the scope of the Ecotechnology support decided by the Government during the Environment Round Table, the DGCIS (General Management of competitivity, industry and services) funds this project. The PRIF project is a consortium between PROVALVA, IFTS and MAILLE ENVIRONNEMENT and aims at replacing lime milk by limestone in the treatment of mineral acids polluted with heavy metals and essentially produced by the metal surface treatment industry. IFTS designed a test stand allowing to establish a comparative, technical and economic assessment of the typical physico chemical process and to apply this innovating process from the acid neutralization phase till the dewatering of precipitation sludge. This comparison becomes a new service offered by IFTS to industrials generating or treating polluted acids.
The collaborative Research programms (in course and to come) are discussed each year by the IFTS Scientific council (composed of academics and industrial members) in order to ensure that they answer a need expressed by professionals and that they are managed with the best specialists of the concerned subjects.
