SLS process feasibility studies

 Through laboratory tests on real products (at IFTS or on customer's site), IFTS defines the feasibility of a project to set up a Solid-Liquid Separation process. The aim is to assess and determine what separation techniques will meet productivity and quality requirements of customer, daily user of SLS techniques by optimising both the investment and operating conditions. The procedure selected can be the result of a series of SLS stages.

 

 

A feasibility study involves:

  •  characterising the unfiltered samples and fractions produced;
  •  defining aptitude for clarifying suspensions using various technologies including settling, flotation, hydrocycloning, centrifuging, dead-end or cross-flow filtration, membrane separation with or without chemical conditioning (floculation)
  • searching for the condistions that meet the objectives of the customer;
  • optimising operating conditions then pre-dimensioning the individual stages of the procedures selected*for the industrial sector;
  • assessing the investment and operating costs (consumables) of the individual stages of the procedures selected* for the project;
  • communicating the list of the main French and European equipment manufacturers and/or reactant manufacturers (coagulants, flocculants).

*Depending on the technology(ies) selected, a pilot test (at IFTS or on site) may be necessary before predimensioning.
