Characterization of Suspensions

  • The Characterization of Suspensions Laboratory at the Institute possesses know-how and equipment, unique in Europe in the field of Solid-Liquid Separation, enabling it to quantify the behaviour of suspensions using one or several techniques.
    • Liquids to clarify: indices of clogging, muddiness, concentration, filterability, speed of sedimentation, moisture content…
    • Pulps, suspensions and sludge to thicken or dehydrate
      - Concentration, moisture content in sediment, dryness
      - Filterability, compressibility, specific resistance, permeability…
      - Speed of sedimentation, indices of sludge, Kynch’s curve.
  • Data thus measured allows IFTS’s engineers, experts in Solid-Liquid Separation, to pre-size installations, compare alternative solutions, determine how to optimize equipment already in service and advise how to reduce costs or improve the quality of individual products.
