Water Analysis
Because separative techniques have numerous applications in the treatment and purifying of water, in 2005 IFTS equipped itself with a laboratory for testing water; a service which we now offer to all professionals concerned with water, industrial and local government agencies.
This laboratory has two functions
- Respond to the needs of the Study and Research services of the Institute to quantify the different processes and performances of purification studies, developed and compared for their clients
- Offer a local service
:
- To companies that use spring, well or mains water, which they recycle or put back into the system and want to know or verify the water’s characteristics for themselves, or for government authorities
- To local government agencies who wish to know or verify and establish the conformity to standards of the effluents from their purification plants
- To government authorities in charge of the management and quality of water resources (bore-holes, rivers, lakes, ground-water…)
- To individuals worried about the quality of water from a well or bore-hole
Activity is centred on physico-chemical analyses of wastewater and natural water. When a client’s request involves microbiological analysis as well, IFTS sub-contracts to local associate laboratories, so as to offer a complete service.
In the discipline of water analysis regulations are necessarily strict. Rigorous standards have made investment in highly technical equipment and in the first-rate expertise of personnel, who conduct the analyses, obligatory.
Our accreditation by COFRAC, in accordance with the standard ISO 17025, carries with it the proof of our expertise and the assurance of the quality of our services and results.
Working in close partnership with clients, we aim to be prompt and available, at all times, so as to minimize the time in handing-over results.
In order to better serve you, we also offer to :
- Collect and transport the samples to the laboratory,
- Supply the necessary containers for samples as well as recommendations for the collection of samples (information will be furnished to clients who wish to undertake collection of samples themselves)
- Provide a personalized analysis report; an interpretation of results can be supplied on request
- Provide a piezometric interpretation when the analysis is associated with a follow-up of the level of groundwater reserves of a bore-hole or well.
We have the answer to all your needs: if your request is not within our area of expertise, we can direct you to a suitable organization capable of offering the required service.
In Brief
You are:
- A local government agency
A business which generates effluents
- An organization which manages natural water
- An individual owner of a well or water source…
You want to:
Measure the major elements in:
- Water expelled from purification plants (urban and industrial effluents, effluents from lagoons)
- Natural water (rivers, lakes, bathing, bore-holes, wells…)
- Sub-soil water
- Water for consumption
We can:
Analyse the parameters of the following:
- Ammonium
- Kjeldahl nitrogen
- Calcium, Magnesium, Potassium, Sodium
- Chlorides, Fluorides, Nitrates, Nitrites, Sulphates
- Phosphates, Orthophosphates
- Silica
- DBO (Biochemical Oxygen Demand)
- DOC (Chemical Oxygen Demand)
- Total suspended solids (MES)
- Dry and volatile solids (550°C)
- Oils and Greases in Suspension
You must:
Report to local authorities on your treatment plant
- Report on the conformity of your water to national standards and guarantee your results.
We know how to:
- Ensure the requisite services in a reactive way and give you our conclusions and advice: we have the experience and a team of experts ready to listen to you.
- Share our knowledge of the law for everything to do with water and water treatment. We are accredited by COFRAC, we pioneer technological advances in our field of expertise, and we are an independent laboratory both in research matters and investments.
Water Analysis is often if not always linked to public health concerns.
In this area, the rigour and professionalism of our laboratory is everything. Nothing is left to chance because the risk would be too great for you, your families, your customers, your neighbours, your fellow citizens…
IFTS has invested heavily in this process by:
- Taking over the former laboratory of the Departmental Council of the Lot-et-Garonne
- Implementing our “Quality” of service in all operations and over seeing the establishment of the new laboratory
- Ensuring we have the necessary accreditations
- Investing in highly qualified personnel
- Investing in the latest equipment (Ionic chromatography, Gravimeter, Molecular absorption spectrophotometer, Titrimeter…)
We can already count on numerous references from local industrialists.
