IFTS is an independent, self-financing, non-profit organization, which was founded in 1981.
It is financed in three ways:
- Contracts, strictly private and confidential, providing services to Industry and to Local Authorities...................................................................... (80 %)

- The Co-funding by Public Bodies of Collaborative Research
Programmes.....................................................................(10%)
Funds rose to 2.1 million euros in 2006 and have continued to rise by an average of 10% pa over the last ten years.
